Frimurarebarnhuset, Historical orphanage in Kristineberg, Sweden
The Frimurarebarnhuset building served as a residential facility for children, providing education and care through structured daily activities and professional supervision.
Freemason brothers established the first children's home in Stockholm in 1753, which operated until 1940 and supported over 12,000 children during its existence.
The facility, known locally as Krillan, represents Stockholm's early initiatives in child welfare and social support systems for vulnerable young residents.
The foundation currently manages investments in securities and real estate, distributing funds for pediatric research and organizations supporting children in need.
Since 1989, the foundation has contributed more than 171 million Swedish kronor to pediatric research, becoming a primary funding source in Stockholm.
