Grünewaldsalen, Concert hall in Konserthuset Stockholm, Sweden
The walls and ceiling of Grünewaldsalen display decorative paintings depicting figures from music history and Greek mythology, including the god Apollo.
Architect Ivar Tengbom designed this space, which opened on April 7, 1926, initially named Lilla Salen before receiving its current name in the 1970s.
Artist Isaac Grünewald completed the decorative paintings within six months in 1926, creating scenes influenced by Italian Renaissance architecture and musical themes.
The room accommodates 460 attendees and operates Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The foyer contains a 76-square-meter carpet inspired by Minoan culture, surrounded by dark mahogany columns with bronze capitals and hidden lighting behind gilded leaves.
