Hötorgscity, Commercial building complex in Norrmalm district, Stockholm, Sweden.
Hötorgscity is a group of five office towers in central Stockholm, lined up next to Sergels Torg and Hötorgstorget square. The buildings have concrete and glass facades and rise to a similar height, forming a clear row when seen from the street.
The complex was built in the 1950s as part of a wider effort to rebuild central Stockholm, replacing older low-rise blocks with modern office towers. It was a central part of the Nedre Norrmalm redevelopment, which reshaped the heart of the city over several decades.
The five towers are still part of everyday city life, with shops and offices used by people passing through the center of Stockholm. Looking up from street level, the uniform height of the buildings gives Hötorgstorget a framed, contained feeling that is hard to find elsewhere in the city.
The complex is easy to reach from the T-Centralen and Hötorget metro stations, which are just a short walk away. Ground-floor entrances lead into shops and covered passages that connect to the broader pedestrian network in the city center.
Although the five towers look like a single planned ensemble from a distance, they were designed by different architectural firms working at the same time. The differences between them are most visible when walking along the row and looking at each building from the side.
