Hästhuvudet 13, Commercial building at Sveavägen and Kungsgatan intersection, Stockholm, Sweden
Hästhuvudet 13 is a commercial building at the intersection of Sveavägen and Kungsgatan in Stockholm, featuring six floors with brown-beige facades divided by pilasters. The structure displays a distinctive concave corner design that accommodates the street junction while housing office and retail spaces.
Constructed in 1919 by architects Sven Wallander and Hjalmar Westerlund, the building underwent significant renovation in 1954 during the development of the Kungsgatan subway station. These modifications reshaped its appearance to complement the newly transformed urban landscape.
From 1919 to 1935, Feiths konditori operated a music café in the ground floor corner space, establishing the location as a notable social gathering point.
The building sits at a prominent street intersection in central Stockholm and is easily visible from the sidewalk. Its corner location makes the distinctive architecture apparent from multiple viewing angles, and the ground-floor retail spaces are openly accessible to pedestrians.
Four tall granite columns originally decorated the curved corner facade until 1935, when they were replaced with smaller pilasters during renovation work. This change reflects the urban transformations that reshaped central Stockholm.
