Riddarbron, Pontoon bridge in Norrmalm, Sweden
Riddarbron extends across Riddarfjärden, connecting the districts of Riddarholmen and Norrmalm through a floating platform supported by buoyant structures.
The bridge operated from 1954 until October 1967, when it was replaced by Centralbron as part of Stockholm's infrastructure modernization program.
The bridge location offers direct views of Strömsborg building and represents the engineering methods used in Swedish urban development during the 1950s.
During its operational period, the bridge provided an essential route for vehicles and pedestrians, reducing travel time between central Stockholm districts.
The structure combined both pontoon and road bridge characteristics, demonstrating how temporary solutions became vital components of urban infrastructure.
