Järnvägsparken, Urban park in Norrmalm district, Stockholm, Sweden.
Järnvägsparken is a public park in the city center with stone-paved surfaces, scattered trees, and benches positioned between Stockholm Central Station and Tegelbacken. The space feels open and connects the areas around this major transit hub.
The park was created in the 1870s as Stockholm Central Station was built, originally covering a much larger area than today. Over the decades, it shrank as the city expanded and changed around it.
Three art installations shape the park: Parea by Ingemar Svensson, Idealized Park by Olle Nyman, and Who is Mr Walker by Jan Håfström. These works tell the story of the place and invite visitors to discover them while walking through.
The park is easy to reach for visitors traveling between the station and other central locations. The paved paths are level and seating areas invite you to stop for a brief rest.
A tile mosaic titled 'Idealized Park' displays tree motifs and reminds visitors of the green spaces that once defined this location. The artwork transforms the memory of lost nature into something visible for those who walk through today.
