Rörstrands slott

Rörstrands slott is a Renaissance château in Vasastaden, located at the intersection of Rörstrandsgatan and Bråvallagatan with smooth plastered facades and black-glazed roof tiles from the 17th century. The building currently houses a café and will soon host Kaggeholms Folk High School following extensive renovations.

Magnus Ladulås donated the Rörstrand area to Klara Abbey in the 13th century, beginning a long history of ownership changes. The château was later built on this site after the monastic phase ended.

The building displays fine tiled stoves created by the former Rörstrand porcelain factory that once operated nearby. These ceramic elements remain visible throughout the interior and serve as a reminder of the site's industrial heritage.

The visit is best planned to include the café in the ground floor, which is accessible during the neighborhood's regular hours. The renovated spaces will accommodate new uses in the future, so check current availability before visiting.

The building preserves cellar vaults from the 15th century that remain intact beneath the structure, revealing how long this site has been inhabited. These underground spaces offer a glimpse into the oldest layers of Stockholm's urban development.
