Stortorget

Stortorget is the main public square in Lund with stone paving that creates an open gathering space. Surrounding it are shops, cafes, and restaurants that line the adjacent streets, forming the heart of the city center.

The square originated in medieval times as a marketplace and developed from wooden structures into a stone-built center beginning in the 13th century. A town hall constructed in the 14th century reinforced its importance as the city's administrative heart.

The square is easy to access and offers plenty of seating areas for resting and lingering. It features good lighting throughout, making it comfortable to visit during any time of day or season.

A modern sculpture titled 'Space Field of Peace' stands in the square as a notable focal point. This artwork was returned to its original location in 2023 after road modifications altered the space.
