The granite rock formation stands prominently in a valley near Storlien, marking a distinct geological feature in the mountainous landscape of northern Sweden.
Erik Dahlbergh included this rock as the only representation of Jämtland in his 1716 publication Suecia antiqua et hodierna, documenting Swedish landmarks.
Swedish folklore connects this rock to an ancient prophecy stating that the earth will endure as long as the rock remains standing.
The rock formation is accessible through marked hiking trails from Storlien, requiring proper outdoor equipment and weather-appropriate clothing for the visit.
This geological formation gained such regional importance that reaching it required a three-day journey from Frösön in earlier centuries.
