Dominkova domačija

Dominkova domačija is a farmhouse from the 18th century with an L-shaped layout, wooden walls covered in clay plaster, and a roof sheltering both living and working areas. The property includes two corn storage buildings, beehive structures, and a water well with a wooden shaft system.

This farmhouse originated around 1700 and maintained its traditional Pannonian form through generations of continuous habitation. Its designation as cultural heritage came after 1990 when the final resident passed away.

The black kitchen inside reveals how farming families once lived and cooked, while the adjoining storage rooms and chambers reflect the rhythm of rural life.

The property sits along the main road connecting Ptuj and Ormož, making it easy to spot from the roadside. Access to the interior may be limited, so checking conditions with local authorities beforehand is advisable.

The well on the property uses a shadoof system, a long pole with a counterweight that lifts water, a practical solution from the era before mechanical pumps became available. This simple device shows how farmers solved daily challenges with materials at hand.
