Minorite Monastery of Ptuj, Medieval monastery in Ptuj, Slovenia
The Minorite Monastery features Gothic architecture with a summer refectory on the first floor containing ceiling paintings of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
The monastery, founded in the 13th century, continued operations during Emperor Joseph II's rule as the Franciscan Minorites focused on teaching activities.
The monastery maintains a collection of 5000 manuscripts in its library, preserving centuries of religious and academic knowledge within its walls.
Visitors need to contact the Tourist Information Center to arrange guided tours of the monastery complex located at Minoritski trg 1.
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul within the monastery required extensive reconstruction after its destruction by Allied bombing in January 1945.
