City Municipality of Ptuj

The City Municipality of Ptuj is an administrative unit in Slovenia's Styria region, stretching along the Drava River valley. It comprises a central town and surrounding villages across 67 square kilometers of land.

The settlement began as Poetovium, a Roman military fort established around 69 AD under Emperor Vespasian. This remote beginning shaped centuries of medieval and early modern development in the region.
