Turnišče Castle

Turnisće Castle is a mansion near Ptuj that blends Renaissance and Baroque architectural styles in a single structure. A park with wooded areas and water features surrounds the building, complementing its formal design.

The building started as a wooden fortress in the 16th century, built to defend against Turkish invasions. It later became the residence of the Barons of Lippiti and served this purpose until World War II ended.

The mansion shows how noble residences evolved from defensive purposes to family homes where the owners displayed their status and taste. The rooms and gardens still reflect the lifestyle of the aristocratic families who occupied the property.

The grounds are accessible via multiple routes with parking areas near the main entrance for visitor convenience. Comfortable shoes are helpful for exploring the park and wooded sections of the property.

Inside the castle stands a memorial space honoring the Warren-Lippit family, who were the final private owners before the war. This commemoration marks their role in maintaining the property during their tenure.
