Municipality of Bovec

The Municipality of Bovec spans 367 square kilometers across the upper Soča River valley, surrounded by the peaks of the Julian Alps.

The settlement dates back to 1070 and belonged to the Patriarchs of Aquileia before becoming a battleground during World War I's Isonzo Front.

The municipality preserves traditional Alpine architecture and maintains strong connections to outdoor activities, particularly winter sports and water-based recreation.

The municipality contains twelve settlements, including the administrative center of Bovec, with direct access to Triglav National Park and the Kanin ski resort.

The region features the Boka waterfall, the highest waterfall in Slovenia, dropping 144 meters in two cascades over limestone cliffs.
