Lomnické sedlo, Mountain saddle in High Tatras, Slovakia
Łomnicka Przełęcz is a mountain saddle in the High Tatras between Lomnický peak and Lomnický ridge. The location sits at around 2189 meters and offers views of the Popradská basin and surrounding mountain ranges.
The saddle became accessible through a chairlift system built in the mid-20th century from Skalnaté pleso. This infrastructure enabled winter sports development in the High Tatras region.
The location served as a filming site for Slovak mountain-themed movies, including Medená veža, which depicted the life of mountain climbers.
A chairlift from Skalnaté pleso provides access to the saddle. The cable car system starting from Tatranská Lomnica in the valley serves as the main connection.
In winter this saddle marks the start of Slovakia's steepest black ski run with sections exceeding 40-degree inclines. The extreme gradient makes the slope a serious test for advanced skiers.
