Baníkov, Mountain summit in Western Tatras, Slovakia.
Standing at 2,178 meters above sea level, Baníkov features a narrow ridge extending eastward and presents vertical cliffs on its northern face.
The name Baníkov derives from the Slovak word for miner, reflecting the 18th-century iron ore mining exploration attempts in the surrounding area.
The mountain lies between the regions of Liptov and Orava, where locals refer to this section of the Western Tatras as Roháče.
Hikers can access the summit through multiple marked trails starting from Žiarska Dolina, Jalovecká Dolina, or Rohačká Dolina valleys.
The eastern ridge contains a distinctive rock formation called Baníkovská ihlá, forming one of the most demanding tourist trail sections in the Tatras.
