Popradský Ľadový štít, Mountain peak in High Tatras, Slovakia.
Popradský Ľadový štít is a mountain peak rising to 2396 meters (7861 feet) and part of the High Tatras range. It features steep slopes and granite formations typical of this mountain range and sits entirely within Tatra National Park.
The peak became a popular destination for European mountaineers during the late 1800s, when numerous climbing routes to the summit were established. This period marked the start of modern mountaineering activity in the Tatra region.
The peak is known locally as an important landmark and takes its name from the nearby town of Poprad. The different language names reflect the region's long history where Slovak and Polish cultures meet.
The summit is accessible via marked trails from surrounding valleys, with most climbs taking place during summer months. Visitors should prepare for changeable mountain weather and bring sturdy footwear and proper equipment.
From its summit the peak offers views across three major valleys: Batizovská dolina, Bielovodská dolina, and Mengusovská dolina. This viewing position makes it a remarkable spot for observing the surrounding mountain landscape.
