Litvorový štít, Mountain summit in High Tatras, Slovakia
Litworowy Szczyt is a summit in the High Tatras reaching 2421 meters and forms a distinctive part of the mountain range. The steep rock faces and two significant pillars on its northwestern side create a recognizable formation when viewed from surrounding peaks.
The first recorded ascent took place on August 12, 1897, when mountaineers August Otto and Pavel Čižák reached the top. The peak was previously named after Wilhelm Wagner in honor of early mountaineering expeditions in this region.
The summit takes its name from the nearby Litworowa Valley that gives the region its identity. The exposed rock faces draw experienced climbers who view this terrain as a serious mountaineering challenge.
Reaching this summit requires advanced climbing skills and proper mountaineering equipment due to the steep rock formations. Good weather is essential since the exposed faces become hazardous during storms or heavy snowfall.
The summit features six distinct smaller rock peaks called Litworowe Mnichy arranged in a chain. These numbered formations from I to VI together create the northwestern pillar formation and attract technical climbers seeking complex routes.
