Bystrá lávka, Mountain saddle in Spiš, Slovakia
Bystrá lávka is a mountain pass in the High Tatras that connects the Mlynická Valley with the Furkotná Valley. The saddle sits at approximately 2315 meters elevation and serves as a key waypoint on the hiking route through this alpine region.
The pass has served as a hiking route through this alpine terrain for many years. A tragic helicopter accident near the saddle in 1979 claimed the lives of seven mountain rescue personnel during a rescue operation.
Since 1993, this pass has become part of the marked yellow hiking trail network, replacing the previous route through the Bystrý Passage.
The hike from Štrbské Pleso to the pass takes around three and a half hours through steep terrain. Chains are installed along the most demanding sections to provide support for hikers navigating the ascent.
The saddle sits between two peak groups: the Bystre Čuby and Bystre Turničky, with views toward Kriváň peak and the Furkotný lakes. This geographic position makes it valuable for hikers seeking to link multiple valleys and ridge systems in a single route.
