Abu'l-Fida Mosque, Islamic place of worship in Hama, Syria
The Abu'l-Fida Mosque stands along the Orontes River, featuring construction primarily from basalt stone with traditional Islamic architectural elements and a prominent minaret.
Built in 1326 during the Ayyubid period, the mosque occupies a site that previously hosted a Roman temple from the 3rd century and a Byzantine church.
The mosque contains a dedicated northern courtyard section that serves as the final resting place for two 13th-century Ayyubid kings.
Visitors can access the mosque at coordinates 35.139528 latitude and 36.749053 longitude, approximately 400 meters west of the Hama citadel.
The structure incorporates two distinct minarets: a square tower from 1124 and an octagonal tower added during the Mamluk period in 1427.
