Sır Dam

Sır Dam is an arch dam spanning the Ceyhan River that generates electricity for the region through water flow. The structure rises significantly above the river valley and holds back a large body of water for power generation.

Construction of the facility began in the late 1980s and was completed in the early 1990s as part of Turkey's hydroelectric development plan. The project aimed to harness the Ceyhan River for regional power generation.

The establishment of the dam required the relocation of 45,000 residents, demonstrating the social changes that infrastructure projects bring to local communities.

The dam sits in a hilly area and can be viewed from nearby roads in the region. Access to certain areas may be restricted due to security measures at the power facility.

This concrete structure combines flood control capabilities with power generation, featuring a surface reservoir that extends over 48 square kilometers.
