Islahiye, Administrative district in Gaziantep Province, Turkey.
Islahiye is an administrative district in Gaziantep Province in southeastern Turkey. It sits between the Amanus Mountains and the Kurt Dağ range, forming a natural passage that connects southeastern Anatolia with northern Syria and the Cilician region.
The area became connected to the region's first transcontinental railway when the Baghdad Railway was built around 1900. A German-built station served as the final stop between Adana and Aleppo until regional conflicts brought operations to an end.
The district celebrates several national events including Youth and Sports Day on May 19 and National Sovereignty and Children's Day on April 23.
The district sits on an important route connecting the southeast with northern Syria, making it easily reachable from Gaziantep. As an administrative area, most services are centered there, so planning ahead helps when visiting.
Archaeological surveys in the 1950s revealed multiple ancient mounds in the valley with remains from different periods. These discoveries sparked systematic excavations that drew research attention to the area.
