Hatay Airport, airport in Hatay province, Turkey
Hatay Airport is a small terminal near Antakya in southern Turkey that handles both domestic and international flights. The facility has a straightforward single building with ground-floor check-in counters, basic cafes, small shops, and duty-free areas inside.
The airport opened in December 2007 starting with domestic flights only, then gained international status in 2008. A new terminal was built in 2011 to handle more passengers and improve comfort at the facility.
The airport sits in a region where different cultures blend together in daily life. The area around Hatay is known for its rich food traditions that mix Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences, shaping how people here live and eat.
Buses, taxis, and car rental services are available just outside the terminal to take you into Antakya or nearby destinations. Plan to arrive at least 2.5 to 3 hours before international flights to allow time for security, passport control, and boarding.
The airport was built on land that was once part of Lake Amik, which was drained many years ago. In February 2023, a major earthquake severely damaged the runway, but local authorities repaired it quickly so planes could land again within days.
