Güzelbahçe

Güzelbahçe stretches along the southern shore of İzmir Gulf, covering roughly 77 square kilometers between coastal areas and mid-height hills. The district is divided into twelve neighborhoods and sits about 24 kilometers west of İzmir's center.

The area was originally called Kilizman and became Kızılbahçe in 1936 before receiving its current name in 1958. These name changes reflect how the region's administrative boundaries shifted over time.

The district blends urban and rural ways of living, where residents engage in fishing and cultivate decorative plants in greenhouses as part of daily work. These traditional practices shape the character of settlements scattered along the waterfront and hillsides.

The district is easy to navigate since the neighborhoods are reasonably sized and most places are reachable by public transportation. The best time to visit is from April through October, when the weather is mild and the streets are active.

The district is known for its greenhouses where a wide variety of ornamental plants are grown and sold to markets across the region. This specialized cultivation has made it an important hub for horticulture and plant production.
