Fenerbahçe Museum, Sports museum in Kadıköy, Turkey
Fenerbahçe Museum is a sports museum in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul, housed inside Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium and displaying trophies, jerseys, photographs and documents across nearly 1,000 square meters (about 10,700 square feet) of exhibition space. The rooms divide into thematic areas covering different sports and eras of the club.
The club began in 1907 in a garden near the waterfront and played matches against occupation forces during the War of Independence. The museum preserves memorabilia from that period and traces the development through more than a century of sports.
The name Fenerbahçe comes from the lighthouse area along this stretch of coast and now connects deeply with football passion and other sports practiced here. Visitors see display cases filled with original jerseys and personal items from former players who became household names across Turkey.
The museum sits along Bağdat Avenue inside the stadium and opens daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with no admission charge. Guided tours are available and help navigate the large collection.
Ruhi Sarıalp won Turkey's first Olympic medal outside wrestling, and his personal items are kept here. The museum also documents the only European athletics club championship that this sports club entered.
