Ulubey Canyon Nature Park

Ulubey Canyon Nature Park is a protected natural area with steep limestone walls that span 77 kilometers through the Aegean region. The walls rise between 140 to 170 meters high, creating a deep passage carved by the Ulubey Stream flowing at its base.

Ancient peoples including Lydians and Romans left marks on the canyon with water channels, caves, and rock-cut tombs carved into the limestone. These traces show how the area served as an important passage and settlement zone through the ages.

The annual canyon festival draws people together for traditional folk performances and regional cooking demonstrations. Locals use this occasion to display their crafts and artistic skills that have been passed down through families.

The park provides wooden walkways and viewing platforms for visitors to explore the canyon safely, including a glass-floor terrace positioned 131 meters above ground. Good footwear and a head for heights are helpful, as some paths have uneven surfaces and exposed sections.

This canyon system ranks as the second longest in the world and contains multiple side canyons that form an intricate underground network. These connected passages create a hidden geography that extends far beyond what appears from the surface.
