Güzeloluk Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Güzeloluk, Erdemli, Turkey
Güzeloluk Mosque is a stone structure with a single dome and minaret built in Ottoman style. The prayer hall is spacious and designed to accommodate around 400 worshippers during services.
Local villagers began construction in 1873, with the minaret added later in 1908 through community effort. Both phases developed gradually as the community invested in the religious building.
Armenian architects Todiri and Nikolos blended Islamic and Christian design elements into the portal and minbar when creating the building. This mixing of traditions is visible in the decorative details and structural choices throughout the interior.
The site is accessible to visitors interested in exploring the architectural features during regular visiting hours. Appropriate dress is expected, and visitors should be prepared for dry conditions throughout most of the year.
The minaret was struck by lightning in 1970 and subsequently restored through repairs completed in 1978. This restoration reflects the community's ongoing commitment to maintaining the building.
