Afyon Mosque

Afyon Mosque in Afyonkarahisar Province is a prayer hall with nine sections supported by forty wooden columns. The columns feature ornamental capitals and a flat wooden ceiling spans across the entire interior.

This mosque was built in 1272 when a ruler commissioned architect Emir Hac Bey to design it. The structure represents the building methods and style of the Seljuk era.

The interior shows how medieval artisans carved and shaped wood to create a sacred space for prayer. Every surface displays patterns and details that were crafted by hand.
