Atatürk Kent Ormanı, Urban forest in Sarıyer, Turkey
Atatürk Kent Ormanı is an urban forest covering wooded hills in Sarıyer with walking paths and views toward the Bosphorus. The area features multiple trails that pass through different vegetation zones and terrain types.
The forest development project began in 2020, transforming this area of Sarıyer into a structured natural space. The initiative aimed to create both recreational opportunities and environmental conservation in the district.
The forest serves as a gathering place where Istanbul residents walk, exercise, and participate in outdoor activities and nature programs. It has become part of daily life for many locals who seek green space near their homes.
The forest has three marked routes: the Bird Trail, Forest Trail, and Water Trail covering different terrain and vegetation areas. All paths are clearly marked and suitable for various fitness levels.
The forest uses augmented reality technology that helps visitors identify bird species such as European robins and grey herons. This digital layer adds information to the nature experience as people walk the trails.
