Mount Sarıçalı National Park

Mount Sarıçalı National Park, National park in Nallıhan, Turkey

Mount Sarıçalı National Park is a protected area in Ankara Province featuring a mountain summit at approximately 1,740 meters and diverse natural environments across its territory. The park spreads across roughly 1,000 hectares with varying elevations that create different habitats for plants and animals.

The Turkish government designated this area as the nation's 46th national park in 2021, establishing a new conservation milestone for the region. This official recognition reflected growing efforts to protect the diverse ecosystems found in central Anatolia.

The park takes its name from a regional barberry shrub that grows abundantly in the area, reflecting how local plants have influenced Turkish place names.

The park can be accessed through Çulhalar village located northwest of Nallıhan town, which requires travel from surrounding areas. Planning your route and transportation in advance is recommended since the site is situated in a mountainous region away from major urban centers.

The park contains over 600 monumental trees that are more than 700 years old, including rare varieties of larch, oak, and juniper growing naturally here. These ancient specimens are among the oldest trees in the region and are immediately visible when exploring the landscape.
