Lake Abant National Park

Lake Abant National Park is a nature reserve featuring a freshwater lake surrounded by pine forests at approximately 1300 meters elevation. The water body and surrounding woodland form the core of this protected natural space.

The area was protected as a nature park starting in 1988 and received national park status in 2022. These designations reflect long-term efforts to preserve the region's natural value.

The lakeside serves as a gathering place where visitors enjoy grilled trout and traditional Turkish sausage prepared locally. People come here to spend time in nature and share meals in a relaxed setting.

Visitors can arrive by private car or shuttle services from the nearby station and should prepare for changing weather conditions at higher elevation. Good footwear is important as trails have varying inclines.

The site is home to several animal species found nowhere else in the world and present only in this ecosystem. These exclusive species make the location valuable for conservationists and scientists.
