Sakarya Museum, Archaeological museum in Adapazarı, Turkey
Sakarya Museum is an archaeological museum in Adapazarı housed in a three-story building with multiple exhibition halls spread across about 1,290 square meters. The space includes offices and a conference room alongside the galleries displaying artifacts from different historical periods.
The building was constructed between 1910 and 1915 by Major Baha Bey as a private residence. It was later converted into a museum, transforming a early 20th-century home into a public space dedicated to preserving regional artifacts.
The collections reflect how people lived across different periods, from prehistoric times through the Byzantine era. You can see everyday objects and burial items that tell the story of communities that once flourished in this region.
The museum is open daily throughout the year, making it easy to plan a visit whenever you prefer. You can move through the three floors at your own pace to explore the collections.
The outdoor garden displays Roman and Byzantine architectural pieces such as sarcophagi, altars, and column bases in their open-air setting. These stone objects in the garden give a direct sense of the scale and craftsmanship of ancient civilizations.
