Selim Sırrı Pasha Mansion

Selim Sırrı Pasha Mansion is a two-story wooden structure with traditional Ottoman features overlooking the Gulf of İzmit. The restored rooms and exhibitions showcase how the privileged classes lived during the 19th century.

The mansion was built in the 19th century by Sırrı Pasha, a local administrator in İzmit. Brick annexes were added later using materials specially imported from France.

The walls display works created by artists who also decorated Dolmabahçe Palace. These artistic details reveal how the Ottoman elite invested in craftsmanship and design.

The mansion is located in the Hacı Hasan neighborhood on Yeni Çeşme Street and keeps regular opening hours. Visitors should be aware that rooms are connected by stairs and the grounds feature uneven terrain.

The high garden walls incorporate fragments from ancient structures. These reused stones give the gardens a hidden archaeological layer that many visitors overlook.
