Samandere Waterfall, Waterfall in Düzce Province, Turkey

Samandere Waterfall is a protected natural monument in Düzce Province, set in a forested valley near the village of Beyköy. It consists of three cascades that drop over dark volcanic rock into a deep pool, flanked by tall broadleaf trees.

The site was officially registered as a natural monument in 1988, placing it under government protection. Since then, activities such as logging and construction have been prohibited, which has allowed the landscape to remain largely unchanged.

The waterfall takes its name from the village of Samandere where it sits. Visitors from nearby towns walk along the stream and gather around the "witch's cauldron," a deep circular hollow carved into the rock by the spinning water.

The waterfall is about 15 miles (24 km) from Düzce city center, reached by following the road toward Beyköy. From the parking area, a gentle path leads down to the cascades, making the walk straightforward for most visitors.

The stream that feeds the waterfall eventually drains into Efteni Lake and then into the Black Sea, making this small forest site part of a much larger water system. Along the protected stretch of stream, some of the trees are among the oldest and tallest in the region.
