Linkou Plateau, Natural plateau in Linkou District, Taiwan
Linkou Plateau is a natural plateau in Linkou District in northern Taiwan that sits along the southwest side of the Tamsui River. It forms a natural dividing line between New Taipei and Guishan District.
This plateau formed over millions of years through geological processes, mainly from erosion of nearby mountains and tectonic plate movements in the region. The landscape was shaped by these underlying geological forces.
Local farmers use the plateau to grow vegetables and other crops, relying on methods that have been part of the community for a long time. The fields shape how the landscape looks today and show how people have made their living here.
The plateau can be reached by several main highways, with National Highways 1, 15, and 61 serving as primary access routes. The area is well-connected by roads linking New Taipei to this region.
The Xinzhuang and Shanjiao fault lines intersect at the eastern edge of the plateau in a notable geological formation. This feature influences the local topography in ways that shape what visitors see.
