Daqiaotou Station, Taipei Metro Xinzhuang/Luzhou Branch line interchange station
Daqiaotou Station is an underground metro station in Taipei's Datong District, running beneath Minquan West Road. It has three street-level entrances, ticket machines, an information booth, and elevators and ramps for step-free access.
The station opened in late 2010 as part of an effort to better connect the Datong District to Taipei's metro network. During construction, a historic red arched gate that stood at street level had to be carefully moved to a new location.
The name Daqiaotou means Big Bridge Head in Chinese and points to a historic bridge that once stood nearby. The station walls display images of the river, street markets, and old buildings from the surrounding neighborhood.
The station sits beneath a busy street, and each of the three entrances leads toward a different part of the neighborhood. It is worth checking which exit is closest to your destination before you travel.
A future light rail line called the Shezi Line is planned to connect this station directly to the riverside and nearby communities. This would give an underground city station an unusually direct link to the riverbank and open green areas along the water.
