China Medical University is a private medical university in Taichung, Taiwan, with nine colleges covering medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, and public health. The complex includes several buildings for teaching and research, along with affiliated hospitals spread across different sites in the city.
The university was founded in 1958 as China Medical College and became the first medical school in Taiwan staffed by Chinese professors. In 2003, the institution received its current name after expanding its faculties and research areas.
The institution blends traditional Chinese medical methods with modern clinical approaches, allowing visitors to observe both practices in its teaching hospitals. Students from several dozen countries study here together, giving the campus an international atmosphere.
The campus is open to the public and located in northeastern Taichung, easily accessible by public transport. Affiliated hospitals are found at several sites and offer insights into medical training practice if guided tours are available.
The Center of Excellence for Chinese Medicine received recognition from the Ministry of Education in 2014 as a leading research center. This acknowledgment honors the contribution to studying traditional Chinese healing methods and their application in modern healthcare.
