Taichung Park, Public park in North District, Taichung, Taiwan
Taichung Park is a public park in North District, Taichung, with a central lake ringed by mature trees and paved pathways. Several pavilions stand along the shore and bridges lead to small islands planted with lotus beds and benches.
The site was created in 1903 under Japanese colonial administration as one of Taiwan's first urban parks. After 1945 it received its current name corresponding to the local city designation.
Morning visitors practice tai chi near the pavilions while afternoon guests enjoy traditional music performances and community gatherings throughout the grounds.
The park opens daily from sunrise to sunset and includes maintained restrooms and drinking fountains. Paths are flat and wide enough for strollers and wheelchairs, though some pavilion entrances have steps.
A wooden pavilion in Japanese style sits on a small island and is surrounded by blooming lotus flowers in summer. Before sunrise residents gather at the shore for tai chi exercises and singing.
