Yuli Township

Yuli Township extends between two mountain ranges in Hualien County, containing fifteen villages and serving as the southern administrative center of the region.

The administrative structure of Yuli Township emerged after World War II when Taiwan reorganized its territorial divisions from the Japanese system to the current format.

The township integrates Han Chinese and indigenous populations, resulting in diverse festivals, culinary traditions, and multiple languages including Mandarin and aboriginal dialects.

Visitors reach Yuli through its rail station on the Taitung line, with trains from Taipei requiring three hours, while local transportation includes buses and rental services.

The Eurasian and Philippine tectonic plate boundary becomes visible at an information area situated on a bicycle bridge spanning across the river.
