Kouhu Township is a rural administrative division in Yunlin County, stretched along the Taiwan Strait and spanning over 80 square kilometers. The area contains coastal waters, wetlands, and farmland distributed across 21 separate villages.
The area received its original name Xiangbihu during the Ming and Qing periods because of a large lagoon that resembled an elephant's trunk. This geographical feature shaped the region's early identity and naming.
