Dongying General Temple stands beside the Central Highway in Liunan Village, Liujiao Township. Unlike most small, picture-only Five Camp shrines, its hall rises over two storeys, with carved beams, dragon columns and a divided-spirit statue of General Dongying. It is one of the five camp shrines of Liujiao Shuntian Temple.

The shrine began as one of the five troop camps of Liujiao Shuntian Temple, which worships the Five Camp Generals. After Li Fujian, the main deity of Shuntian Temple, refused to return from a pilgrimage to Nankunshen Daitian Temple, worshippers learned he was displeased that they favored the Dongying camp. They then rebuilt Shuntian Temple, a ten-storey structure consecrated on 20 November 2004, funded partly by a NT$5,000 levy per villager.

The temple is one of the five camp shrines of Liujiao Shuntian Temple, dedicated to the Dongying General. Villagers ask the general for cures and prescriptions, and some consult him on feng shui. His birthday on the 16th day of the 11th lunar month is Liujiao's busiest day. Young villagers abroad, including Yang Yating and Li Junzhang, set up a Facebook page about the temple's history.

The temple stands beside the Central Highway in Liunan Village, Liujiao Township, Chiayi County, and is reached by road; the site is a small shrine-like structure rather than a walled compound. The busiest day is the 16th day of the 11th lunar month, the general's birthday, when Liujiao Township fills with worshippers. Villagers also come to ask the general for cures and prescriptions, so expect people consulting at the altar.

The temple's statue of the general was long kept at the home of village chief Lu Rong'an. In October 2005, while displayed in Shuntian Temple's main hall for the Three Kings' birthday, it disappeared; the temple offered NT$1 million for its return, and after repeated failed attempts to locate it through spirit mediums, a new statue was installed.
