Zuoying District, Administrative district in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
Zuoying District is an administrative division in Kaohsiung that combines residential neighborhoods, schools and universities, and military installations. The area spreads across several zones with different purposes, serving a large population that lives and works throughout the district.
The district developed in the 17th century as a military fortress known as Old Fengshan and subsequently came under Japanese control. After World War II ended, it was transferred to the Republic of China in 1945.
The district is home to Taiwan's largest Confucius Temple, which serves as an important site for traditional worship and reflection. Near the artificial Lotus Lake, the Spring and Autumn Pavilions stand as gathering places where people walk and enjoy views of the water.
The district is well connected by two stations on the West Coast Line and a High Speed Rail station. These transportation hubs make it easy to reach other parts of the city and major centers across the region.
The district houses Taiwan's largest naval base and training center for specialized Marine Corps units. This major military installation shapes the character of the area and reflects its role in the nation's defense.
