Spring and Autumn Pavilions, Traditional Taoist temple complex at Lotus Lake, Zuoying District, Taiwan.
The Spring and Autumn Pavilions are twin octagonal structures standing four stories tall with green-tiled roofs and yellow walls set above the water. Walkways connect the two buildings and allow visitors to move through the entire complex.
Built in 1953, these pavilions emerged as a temple dedicated to Lord Kuan during a period of religious construction around the lake. The design follows traditional architectural principles common to temples of that era.
The pavilions honor Lord Kuan, a military god worshipped in local religious practice for representing loyalty and righteousness. You can see this devotion reflected in the decorations and ceremonies that take place within the structures.
The site sits on Lotus Lake in Zuoying and is accessible by public transportation, making it straightforward for visitors to reach. You can combine a visit here with the nearby Dragon and Tiger Pagodas to experience multiple temples in one outing.
A half-moon pond in front of the pavilions is home to thousands of turtles, a feature that surprises many visitors. These creatures have become an integral part of the landscape and add an unexpected natural element to the religious site.
