Shoushan National Nature Park

The landscape stretches across 485 hectares, featuring limestone formations, coral reefs, and multiple hiking trails that connect different sections of the mountainous terrain.

Archaeological evidence indicates the Makatao tribe inhabited these hills between 4000 and 5000 years ago, leaving behind artifacts that document their presence.

Local conservation groups initiated the protection of this area, leading to its designation as Taiwan's first civilian-driven national park in 2006.

Visitors can access the park via Kaohsiung Bus routes 3, 19, 48, or 88, with designated parking areas available for those arriving by personal vehicle.

The park houses a substantial population of Formosan rock macaques, which roam freely throughout the territory and interact with the natural environment.
