Kaohsiung Museum of History, History museum in Yancheng District, Taiwan
The Kaohsiung Museum of History is located in Yancheng in a light green building featuring two symmetrical towers and traditional Japanese elements at its entrance. The structure spans three floors and presents the city's development through various exhibition spaces.
The building was constructed in 1939 by architect Oono Yonezirou and served as Kaohsiung's City Hall until 1992. Its conversion into a museum in 1998 made it a place for preserving the city's history.
The exhibits show how Kaohsiung and its people changed over time through objects, documents, and photographs from daily life. Visitors see how local traditions developed and shaped the city's identity.
The museum is located on Zhongzheng 4th Road and is open to visitors during daytime hours from Tuesday to Sunday. You can walk inside freely and explore the exhibitions at your own pace.
The building employs reinforced concrete construction and blends Japanese Imperial Crown style with European and Asian design elements. This combination of architectural approaches reflects the historical influences that shaped the region.
