National Taichung University of Science and Technology, Technical university in North District, Taichung, Taiwan
National Taichung University of Science and Technology is a technical university in North District, Taichung, Taiwan, which spreads its teaching across two sites known as San-min and Ming-sheng. Six colleges offer programs in commerce, design, computing, languages, health, and intelligence fields, with classrooms and laboratories distributed across multiple buildings.
The institution began in 1919 as a commercial school during Japanese rule and evolved over the decades into a comprehensive technical university. In 2011, it merged with National Taichung Nursing College, shaping its present structure.
The campus remains open to visitors, with students moving between buildings during term time and using libraries and lecture halls throughout the day. The gender balance becomes visible in the design faculties, where project work often takes place in shared workshops.
Both sites sit in North District and are reachable by public transport, with visitors advised to check in at reception areas. During semester breaks the campus feels quieter, while term time brings more activity and parking becomes harder to find.
Alongside regular day classes, the university runs several parallel teaching formats, including evening courses and distance learning for working adults. A separate division for advanced commercial continuing education adds to the offer and serves older learners.
