The Hong Teng-yun Memorial Arch is a traditional stone structure with detailed carvings and classical Chinese architectural elements throughout. The arch features multiple pillars and crossbeams with inscriptions, as well as several tiers of decorative roofing.
The arch was built in 1888 to commemorate the contributions of an important historical figure from that era. It reflects the architectural development that took place in late 19th century Taiwan.
The arch displays carved dragons and phoenixes that show traditional Chinese craftsmanship and honor an important historical figure. Visitors walking around it can observe these details and appreciate the skill of earlier artisans.
