Kaiji lingyou Temple, Chinese temple in Tainan, Taiwan
Kaiji Lingyou Temple is a Chinese temple in Tainan featuring multiple shrines decorated with detailed wooden carvings and traditional paintings. The walls display scenes of officials riding mythical creatures throughout the halls and corridors.
The temple was established in 1671 as a counterpart to Beiji Temple and underwent several modifications over time. A major renovation in 1932 determined its present appearance.
The temple honors Xuan Wu, a Taoist deity revered by martial artists for authority over the elements and fire protection. Visitors experience this veneration through the carved scenes and ritual spaces within the halls.
The temple is located at No. 31, Lane 208, Section 2, Minzu Road in West Central District and is accessible from Chikan Lou by walking east. The setting is easy to reach with clear orientation points nearby.
A separate metal structure houses deity statues while the main building undergoes extensive renovations. This temporary shelter allows worshippers to visit even during major construction work.
