Tainan Art Museum, Art museum in central Tainan, Taiwan
Tainan Art Museum is an art museum in West Central District that spans two sites and showcases contemporary work from Taiwan and international collections. Building 2 consists of a five-story structure with pentagonal shapes, glass facades, and geometric patterns on its exterior walls.
The museum opened in 2019 in a building designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, positioned alongside an older historic site. Ban received the Pritzker Prize for his work with sustainable materials and innovative structures.
The museum exhibits contemporary Taiwanese art alongside international collections across 16 exhibition halls, fostering artistic exchange between local and global creators.
The museum opens Wednesday through Sunday between 10 AM and 6 PM, displaying exhibitions across 16 halls on multiple floors. Visitors can walk through the galleries and take a break at the fifth-floor restaurant afterward.
The top floor has a glass roof that lets natural light into the space while offering views over the city rooftops. Architectural details inside echo the shape of Delonix flowers, which grow commonly in the region.
