Sinhua Butokuden

The Sinhua Butokuden features traditional Japanese architectural elements with wooden beams, sliding doors, and a distinctive roofline that extends over the entrance.

Constructed in 1937 during the Japanese colonial period, this martial arts training facility served as a center for teaching kendo and other combat disciplines.

The building now functions as a local history museum, displaying exhibits about indigenous cultures, Hakka traditions, and regional bamboo craftsmanship.

Located near public transportation routes, the museum offers free admission to both its history exhibition hall and bamboo museum sections.

Following the 921 Earthquake of 1999, restoration efforts preserved the building's original Japanese design while adapting spaces for modern museum purposes.
